Dawkins on Islamic creationism

Dear reader, our blog has moved to a new address.

Do come on over (and change your bookmarks accordingly): rationalist.org.uk

My attention's been drawn to an article by Richard Dawkins on his website, where he amusingly takes apart the "evidence" presented in the Atlas of Creation, the 700-page tome of Turkish creationist Harun Yahya, AKA Adnan Oktar. Read Dawkins' piece to discover sea snakes posing as eels, Starfish disguised as Brittlestar and, best of all, a fishing lure (steel hook included) cast as a caddis fly.

We covered this new European creationism with an article by Peter C Kjaergaard in our May/June issue. He warns of rising creationism across the continent, fuelled by the work of Oktar who, as our picture shows, looks more like a B-rate Bond villain than the "scientist" he seems to claim to be. And a quick read of his Wikipedia page shows he's implicated in enough shadowy activity to keep 007 busy if he happened to enter a quiet period...

He is not a creationist of Turkey, he is a worldwide known writer. By his books, I learned many things which brought me a true life. Thank you so much for the truths...

So,as a result, are those impressions that blog writer would like us to have, changing the truth that there are no intermediate formed fossils,no changes on species what so ever.As a paleonthologist i can compare the fossils that i have found my self with the pictures shown in Harun Yahya's Atlas. They are very real and solid evidences..enough to refute the theory of evolution.
while giving us film world news, add something scientific to support your idea. And after all,if 007 bond comes to you with real scientific evidences, won't you accept them and say:"You are not a scientist"?

Those, who are not able to present any scientific evidence proving their evolutionist lies, are only capable of propagating insults.

Harun Yahya suggests a huge amount of irrefutable evidences proving Allah's Creation and clearly states that there has been no transition between the species.

When one studies a single fossil, the only result he'll find out is the "fact" that living beings have experienced no change.. Not even a bit...

Anyone -claming the exact opposite and criticizing a wise author who has demonstrated hundreds of million year old fossil remains in his books and in thousands of exhibitions- has to present his own hundreds of fossils that stand for an evolutionist proof. -of course if they are capable of finding any :) -

You people are so funny. All of you envy this gorgeous man and instead of come out with scientific facts and support your visions, you choose to slender him. Do you know why? Because you don't have proof about this nonsense called evolution. I also read the Atlas of creation and may say that this is the book that initiate the beginning of a new evolution free era in human history. It's time to accept this new era and live in peace and love.

Harun Yahya is talkin and writing with scientific prooves. I have read many books of him and as a biologist ı am impressed of his works. I think the history of Evolutionary Theory may divide into two. Before Harun Yahya and after Harun Yahya. Because Harun Yahya used the technology, modern science and the proofs so well that he succeeded in determinig the deception of evolution theory. Just read some of his books and think frankly. You will find the truth. Evolution Theory is a big lie that has been being supported for 150 years just to maintain some dark ideologies like faschism, communism, rascism with which some countries had benefit.
The blog writer may stop second-rate gossip news and may get interested in modern scien, technology and the disasters, slaughters, wars, quarrels of the world.

He is a very famous writer. He has got a lot of various books about science,religion..I also read much books of him.His books just says that we created by God and darwinizm is a big lie since 150 year. When we looked Harun Yahya's Atlas we can see clearly that all animals have not any change as present day anilmals.so there is no evolution.if we can not see any proof like intermediate fossils ,we can say that evolution is not acceptable teori.Harun Yahya shown that to world by his books and websites. His books translated in 60 languages. It is amazing.

I wouldn't worry about this guy popularizing creationism. The popularity of creationism has little to do with the arguments, of course. As all scientists know, the scientific argument is unassailable.

The popularity of creationism depends on the popularity of religion. Most people don't know enough science. So it depends who they trust. Where religion is popular, they trust the religious. And they turn to creationism because it helps them to support their religious beliefs.

to Tom,
'As all scientists know, the scientific argument is unassailable.'
according to above comment,I recommend you to look ATLAS OF CREATION.When you read book you will see living fossils. Most people believ that evolution is not scientific after Harun Yahya's book. You say scientific argument is unassailable. Can you show me any transitional form.you can not. Therefore you do not need to be a paleonthologist too see that.just think about it.also everything is in Holy Books, science as weıı.science just a way for us to approach to God.Everywhere is full with God's verse. From earth to up.You can start to think about you rself.

I'm afraid I don't share Tom Rees's optimism. If seven of these eight posts are anything to judge by we are on the brink of a new dark age ruled by religious mania!

Tom Rees said...

Hi George, I suspect what's happened is that this post has been picked up on some forum devoted to creationism/Yahya. Hence they pile on to evangelize!

Of course, we may be on the verge of a new dark age. The interesting data from the World Values Survey is that, worldwide, the number of religious people is now growing faster than the number of non-religious (due to differential birth rates: poverty: religion, and fecundity go hand in hand). So there is a battle to be fought here, to stem the tide.

The Dawkins article has been expanded and updated. If you want to see more creationist responses click on the "View Alternate Comment Thread" just below the article; 133 comments at the last count.

http://richarddawkins.net/articleTrollComments,2833,UPDATED-Venomous-Snakes-Slippery-Eels-and-Harun-Yahya,Richard-Dawkins,page1

Though there are ten times that number in the Regular Comments thread fortunately.

None of the creationist comments have attempted to address the point made in the post.

Anni accuses the post of slander (I assume "slender" was a typo) but instead of answering the criticism of the book slanders the critics and the post!

So, I'll address this directly: Why is it slander to level criticism at evidence of biological change being a fishing lure?

Same writing styles, similar misspellings and syntax...wow, how many sockpuppet accounts did this guy's buddies invent? They must Google Harun Yahya's name every hour for new news so they can post the same drivel and rhetoric about the Atlas overturning the theory of evolution. Get a clue. Paleontologists already know that many forms didn't evolve much over time. There's nothing in the theory that says that everything is required or expected to evolve.

When was Mr. Yahya "slendered"? Did he join Jenny Craig's Fitness program? :-P

Creationists: Disproving evolution does NOT prove that the myths you believe in are true. Both sides might be wrong. Your arrogance makes you annoying as hell, though. Evolutionists generally say, 'This is the evidence we have, and this is the most probable outcome. Let's see what we can do to prove or disprove it. Creationists say, 'This is the way it is because God told me.' God doesn't talk to ANYONE. If you think he does, well, let's just say an evaluation is in order.
